Cancer and Eating
Nov 1 2007, 7:49 AM EDT O.K so the scientific community has once again made a ground-breaking declaration, the types of food you eat regularly can impair your health. The most recent study results by the World Cancer Reserch group are not really startling. Processed food, high caloric food, sugary foods are agents of poor health. The problem is that with our highly advanced and industrialized society our foods come to us processed to facilitate the conveniences we love. This is really ironic, we embrace technology and industry to make food faster and cheaper, yet that it turns out is detrimental to our health. So now we go full circle, back to the soil, without added processing. So the craze is now organic or free range. So the agrarian society had it right, eat your food closer to the ground. Not even water is pure anymore, just about everything we eat is tainted by some "process or artificially stimulated" agent. Chicken has too much hormones, salmon is farm raised, fish has too much mercury, fruits have waxy coatings, and even water is now processed and sold in bottles with vitamins added. Do not get me wrong; prevention is worth more than its weight in gold. So here is my approach, eat just enough to stay healthy, reduce high concentration of processed foods (especially restaurant, fast food and pre-prepared meals). Fruits, vegetables, oatmeal is always welcome. And every now and then, eat some baked item. And exercise, doing something regularly that challenges the body's system. It is so easy to become unhealthy. Do you find this valuable? |
